4Loud  Sep 28, 2008
This has served me well for the past 3 years. Never had any technical problems with it. I don't think I've ever had it fail like the last one I had.

The only problem is that the fan on it is very loud. I took the video card out to see the difference and this one fan is louder than the power supply, case fan, and CPU fan combined!

If you want a quiet computer, this is not a good card.

4Solid Older Card  Jun 19, 2008
I bought my PC in late 2005 at the time the ATI X700 was a fairly top of the line card. It has lasted me quite well for the most part with games. I played WoW with this card on almost maxed out settings and it did fine (of course WoW isn't the most graphically challenging game to play) had decent FPS and performance. I can also run Oblivion with the settings around max as well with a fine FPS. But some games it does not do to well on, for instance I can run Neverwinter nights 2 but only on very low settings to achieve a good FPS. If you just want to play older 20 dollar bin games from 04-06 this card should do you fine but maybe not GREAT. As for high end FPS games I would forget this card and get something with more muscle...but if your like me and still play Counter Strike this card works solid enough.

4Older, but still Potent  Jun 17, 2007
These ATI-Built cards are widely available "Refurbushed" but appear new without the original packaging.

The card is still fast, the fan is a bit noisy and if found at a good price it's a great value. The one I used was flawless, no problems.

Unless you find one cheap, it's not worth buying as there are so many newer, better cards out there.

1ATI Garbage never again!  Nov 04, 2006
I really do NOT like ATI. This is my second video card from ATI and always there is a problem that ATI does not recognize and fix! IF you search ATI X700 Pro Problems - you will find a looot to read! This card has a lot of problems and ATI does not do any **** ! If you have dual video, two monitors you will have a lot of problems! If you have this card and try to update the software for new programs and games, you will have problems! Your monitor will blick forever until you disable all ATI programs and dll's in msconfig... You can NOT install any new driver since june 05 or nyour movies will not work ... I really hate ATI and I will never, never buy anything from ATI anymore... A lot of problems ! SEARCH BEFORE you chose!!!
ATI never again!!! I could write much more ... but... just search!
2 years card!

4Don't buy the nVIDIA 6600 GT, buy this instead...It's a great card for amateur gamers  Jul 26, 2006
I've owned the card for about 5 months and it works great for COD2, Call of Duty, BF 1942, BF Vietnam, The Sims, and Flight Simulator 2004. But it has problems for high settings in BF2, The Movies, Rome: Total War, and The Sims 2. I bought this card as an alternative for the two nVIDIA 6600 GT OC's that I had to return to FRYS because the memory chip blew when I tried to play BF2 (that's what BFG tech support said). So if your thinking of buying an nVIDIA 6600, don't, buy this card instead. If you want a good ATI graphics card to play fairly demanding games, I'd recommend that you jump for the X1600 Pro for $70 more ($199.99), you'll be happier. The bottom line is if you're for a budget graphics card this one will meet your needs. I'm going to replace this card with an ATI X1800 XT, much better graphics performance.
